History
In 1958 Hidenwood Pool was created by an endowment from the Hiden Family in conjunction with the development of the Hidenwood neighborhood. The property is to be used for recreation purposes.

The founding members paid dues for several years before construction of the facility began. Over 50 years later, our pool is still thriving with second and third generation Tarpons (our pool mascot) spending their summer days full of activity at our pool. Families spend hours upon hours together in a neighborhood atmosphere that offers something for everyone.

Statistics
We have approximately 105 stockholders and 85 summer members.  This fluctuates yearly.  Our recreation areas include two diving boards, large party deck, concession stand, pool decking, bathrooms, play area, and tennis courts.

Membership Changes for 2010

Stockholder Memberships can be paid over a 3 year period ($100 additional per year) or  paid at the time of registration.

SUMMER MEMBERS (now called Family Members) who have been a Summer/Family Member for three consecutive
years will automatically be rolled over into STOCKHOLDER MEMBERSHIPS.  The additional $100 each Summer
Member/Family Member has paid each year will automatically be applied to their $250 stock fee.

What does this mean for you?

If you are a Stockholder, your membership does not change.

If you have been a Summer Member/Family Member for 3+ CONSECUTIVE years, you are now a Stockholder!!
Stockholders are voting members and can hold a Board of Director's position.
Stockholders also pay $100 less per year for dues!

If you have been a Summer Member/Family Member for 1 or 2 consecutive years, you may
choose to pay (yearly) an additional $100 until you become a Stockholder OR  you may pay
the remaining stock fee required to become a Stockholder.  You can check your status with
                         Membership D
irector, Kim Phillips:  kbphillips@verizon.net

NEW MEMBERS You can choose the way you wish to pay for your membership

                    1.  Become a Stockholder - Adult Individual, Senior Couple or Family Member
and pay the membership dues and add the $250 stock one-time
stock fee to become a Stockholder.

2.  Become a Stockholder gradually over a 3 year period.
By paying the stock fee over THREE CONSECUTIVE years, you
become a stockholder on your third consecutive year of payments.
At any point during those years, you may pay the additional amount
required for the stock fee and become a Stockholder right away.

NO DUES INCREASE!        You read right!  With everything increasing in price, your Board of Directors has
decided to remain at the same price we have been for the past 5 years!

Please help us keep costs down by volunteering and helping us build our membership.
We all need to pull together and help out or dues will have to increase next season.

IMPORTANT NOTE:  Memberships must be paid in full before you can attend the pool.
There will no longer be a grace period or exceptions.
Until your membership fees are paid in full you may not attend the pool.

Please understand that a few families have taken unfair advantage of this situation
and we cannot allow it to continue.  We will be sending statements to each member
offering payment plans through opening day. Please take advantage of these payment options!
Want to know more about these payment options?  Email our Membership Director!
                        Membership Director, Kim Phillips:  kbphillips@verizon.net

IMPORTANT NOTE No membership payment will be taken at the Front Desk.  NO EXCEPTIONS.

Again, we have had a very small group of people who have used this convenience
to their own personal advantage.  This hurts all of us as we are all owners of the pool.
Membership application must be mailed to our Membership Director or arrangements
made DIRECTLY with her for payment.

Membership Director, Kim Phillips:  kbphillips@verizon.net

MEMBERSHIP CARDS:

Beginning in 2010 you will have a membership card in order to enter the pool.
One membership card will be issued for each family member living in
your residence over the age of 9.  Please remember that family members
listed on the application MUST reside at the listed address of the applicant.
Children cannot be over the age of 24.
Replacement cards will be made for $5 each.

Children attending without an adult:  If your child age 9-17 is coming to the pool without an adult, please make sure  there is an emergency form on file for your child.  This is for your child's safety should an emergency occur.  Your child (age 9-17) may not be allowed in the pool without an adult in attendance if there is no emergency form on file for him or her.  There will be extra copies available at the front desk if you need to fill one out for your child.

Maintenance Fee
There is a $50 maintenance fee for all members (only BRAND NEW TO THE POOL members are exempt). When you pay your maintenance fee and then volunteer your time (2010 is a minimum of 5 hours) during clean-up days, for general operations or for fundraisers, you will receive a $50 credit toward your 2011 fees. Many members choose to sign up for their hours and they do not have to pay the maintenance fee as long as the hours are contributed.  We are a VOLUNTEER organization and we your need help to make this place run smoothly.  If you prefer NOT to volunteer, you can pay the $50 maintenance fee yearly and not worry about volunteering!  The money we collect for maintenance will be used to hire people to get some of the work done (lawnmowing, landscaping, etc.)

If you paid this $50 fee in 2009 and volunteered 5 documented hours, you do NOT have to pay the $50 again, however you will need to volunteer a minimum of 5 hours for summer of 2010 to maintain the credit for 2011.

If you would like to check on your documented volunteer hours, please contact Membership Director Kim Phillips:  kbphillips@verizon.net

Membership Responsibilities
All members and stockholders are expected to participate on work days held throughout the pool season and year. As stockholders, you are part owner of the pool & land and will also be responsible for it's upkeep. This can be a fun way to get to know more HRA members!  All cleaning, landscaping, building, painting and other maintenance issues are completed by pool members as volunteers. There are no paid positions.  All families are expected to work a minimum of 5 hours per season.

Fundraisers are also held to raise the money necessary to keep from raising dues. Several fundraisers are offered per year and everyone is encouraged to participate in at least one.  If you have a good idea for a fundraiser, let your Board know.

Cell Tower Income
Many people ask us "What about the Cell Tower income?  Aren't you guys awash in money?" WE WISH!! Virtually all the money from the Cell Tower (minus the amount required to maintain operating costs) is going DIRECTLY to our protected CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT FUND.

Our pool is over 50 years old and the maintenance on a pool that old is expensive and frequent.  We are saving that income in a protected fund for a new pool!  The new pool will be 25 METERS long (not 25 yards as ours currently is) and we hope to have a modest clubhouse with a full kitchen to compliment an awesome snack bar.  It will take a few years for us to get the funding to initiate this improvement process.  If you would like to donate to our CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT FUND contact your
Board
