POOL YOUR TIME WITH US!

Every member of Hidenwood Pool has a vested interest in helping our pool to run smoothly.
We are an operation of VOLUNTEERS and it is only through volunteering
that we can keep our pool functioning at its best.

Over the past few years, we have noticed the "pool" of volunteers dwindling
to a wonderful group of a few select people and the Pool Board of Directors.
For a volunteer operation, this means high levels of burnout for those doing the volunteering.

We are hoping to increase that volunteer "pool" by
instituting a mandatory time for volunteering
OR you can opt to pay the $75 fee each year in lieu of volunteering.
That $75 fee allows us to hire someone to get things done that aren't completed
by our group of volunteers.

So beginning in 2009, we began instituting a maintenance fee for all members
(only Stockholders brand NEW to the pool are exempt).
Most local pools have been doing this for years.

This fee can be reimbursed the following year by volunteering 5 hours
of documented time to the pool!

When you pay the $75 maintenance fee AND volunteer your 5 hours of time,
you will receive a $75 credit toward your maintenance dues for the next year.

Most members choose to sign up for a time to volunteer in lieu of paying the $75 maintenance fee.

There will be a sign in and sign out book to clock your time.
Your time needs to be documented (co-signature) by the Pool Manager or
a member of the Pool Board.

If you want to volunteer in a way not listed here, contact  Amy
to let her know how you wish to volunteer!

WAYS TO VOLUNTEER and work off the maintenance fee!

1) Clean up days.
Several are scheduled through the year.
These days are chosen by the Board and sent out via email.
If you are not currently receiving our emails, send your name in to
Amy .

2) Dinner On The Deck.
Nearly every Friday of the summer of 2009 & 2010 was
Dinner on the Deck
We provided the food, you provided the
cooking and serving skills!  This event was an astounding
success in terms of FUN for the families participating.
Your 5 hours is completed when you have 2 of your family members
donating their evening to Dinner on the Deck
Getting to know the membership and others in our
community is always a plus!
We are looking for a coordinator for
Dinner on the Deck for 2012

Being the coordinator is a simple and super way to get in your voluteer hours!
Send your name in to
Amy

3) Spring Festival 2012!.
No fall festival this year!
Instead we are targeting for a Spring Festival in May of 2012.
We need a group of dedicated volunteers to see it through.
If you wish to be part of the group that will take on this
task please contact
KIM

Our Fall or Spring Festival is important in many ways.
It is a very good way to give some fun back to the community
and see your neighbors in a little different venue.
It creates fond memories of being at HRA when swimming wasn't the focus.
It gives us a chance to introduce ourselves to to people in a variety of neighborhoods-
and those people might be looking for a community pool in the future.
It is a fundraiser for the pool that is attended by the extended community.
In the past, the income from the Fall Festival covered the pool bills for several months in the wintertime.
Now with Spring Festival beginning in 2012, you can get your 5 volunteer hours done before your payment is due!

There will be no festival for 2011, so it keep your eyes open for volunteering opportunities
Opportunities are sent out via email and frequently posted on the front page of the website.

4) Yard Maintenance.
If you like weeding and lawn mowing, this may be the thing for you!
In the summer (and occasionally in the fall and spring),
we need people to mow the whole yard, weed whack, edge and weed the landscaped areas.
Spreading mulch, picking up trash and raking leaves are also great maintenance helpers.
This is something you can do basically on your own schedule!
Send your name and contact information in to
Jeff and
he will put you on the schedule!

5) BE A BOARD of DIRECTORS MEMBER.
While this is more than a 5 hour commitment, it is one way of volunteering
that you will find rewarding and fulfilling.  We have a lot of fun at our
Board meetings because all of us are dedicated to HRA and helping it
be a fun community place to PLAY with your family.
If you would like to sit in on a Board meeting, we'd love to have you there!
Go
HERE for more information about the next meeting .  Serving as a
Member AT LARGE allows you to get your feet wet and see if you like the water!
