HISTORY
In 1958 Hidenwood Pool was created by an endowment from the Hiden Family in conjunction with the development of the Hidenwood neighborhood. The property is to be used for recreation purposes.
The founding members paid dues for several years before construction of the facility began. Over 50 years later, our pool is still thriving with second and third generation Tarpons (our pool mascot) spending their summer days full of activity at our pool. Families spend hours upon hours together in a neighborhood atmosphere that offers something for everyone.

Hidenwood Recreation Association has 2 types of Memberships!
*Summer Membership
A Summer Membership is a $100 additional per year (above Stockholder rates) at the time of registration. After 3 consecutive years of owning a Summer Membership, the membership is automatically converted over to Stockholder Membership status, which reduces its subsequent yearly fees by $100.
*Stockholder Membership
A Stockholder Membership is a zero valued stock, fully vested member of the pool, having been a member for 3 consecutive years. To save $50, you may purchase a Stockholder’s Membership your FIRST year as a member by paying upfront, a one time non-refundable $250 initiation fee. After the initial initiation fee is paid, subsequent years will be billed at the Stockholder Membership rates listed below.

MAINTENANCE FEE $100:
(Exempted: First year pool members)
Our pool is over 50 years old and the maintenance on a pool and the grounds that old are expensive and frequent. The $100 maintenance fee was created in order to get members invested in volunteering time at the pool.
6 hours (4 for seniors and individuals) minimum are to be worked BY opening day of the current season (per membership), whether thru clean up days, designated fundraisers, or specially Board approved activities from opening day of the previous season (2023) to opening day of the current season (2024). Any partial amount of the required hours worked will be credited to your maintenance fee on a pro-rata basis.
Most of our volunteer opportunities come during the time BETWEEN seasons. We typically have end of season take down days, fall fundraisers and fall cleanup days prior to the spring clean up days that are usually offered to our members as a way to get their volunteer maintenance hours in.
Hours are calculated on a per person basis (age 9 or older). i.e. If 2 people work 3 hours each on any given work day or approved activity, the 6 total membership hours will be considered fulfilled. All family members are welcomed and encouraged to participate as it promotes a sense of community!
If any hours volunteered AFTER opening day of the current season are worked, there is the option to have those hours applied to the FOLLOWING summer requirements or to have a refund issued for the current season’s maintenance fees that HAVE ALREADY been paid. Because we may not necessarily know ahead of time when events will occur DURING the season that may require volunteers, this is taken on a case by case basis throughout the season.
The Board of Directors will provide a list of approved activity opportunities for you to work off your maintenance fee. In an effort to recognize the diverse strengths of our members, the list will include: clean up days, general operations, and select fundraisers. Other opportunities will be considered by the Board of Directors. If you have other offers of support that you would like to be considered for Maintenance Fee credit, simply let a Board member know and they will be happy to present it to the rest of the Board for approval.
Membership Responsibilities
We are a VOLUNTEER organization and we need your help to make this place run smoothly. As stockholders and members, you are responsible for it’s upkeep. This can be a fun way to get to know more HRA members!
All cleaning, landscaping, building, painting and other maintenance issues are completed by pool members as volunteers. Outside of the lifeguards, there are NO paid positions.
Fundraisers are also held to raise the money necessary to keep from raising dues. Several fundraisers are offered per year and everyone is encouraged to participate in at least one. If you have a good idea for a fundraiser, let your Board know!
If you prefer NOT to volunteer, you may pay the $100 maintenance fee yearly and not worry about volunteering. The money we collect for maintenance fees will be used towards the general upkeep and improvement of the pool and property that are not or can not be performed by our members.
Cell Tower Income
Many people ask us “What about the Cell Tower income? Aren’t you guys awash in money?” WE WISH!! Virtually all the money from the Cell Tower (minus the amount required to maintain operating costs) is going DIRECTLY to our protected CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT FUND.
Our pool is over 50 years old and the maintenance on a pool that old is expensive and frequent. We are saving that income in a protected fund for improvements and renovations! We have some exciting plans, and each year we are making major progress, but it will take a few more years for us to get the funding to initiate all of the planned improvements. If you would like to donate to our CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT FUND, please email our Membership Director Sheri Melzer!
